My dog used to itch and scratch like crazy. I'd look in his fur and couldn't find fleas. But still the itching would go on, and on, and on. Dog scratching would literally wake me up in the middle of the night. And as miserable as it made me, I know my poor dog was suffering so much more.
So I started looking around at dog shampoo, looking for anything that would help ease my dog's itching. I didn't know if he had dry skin, dog allergies, mange, whatever. I just knew I needed some relief for him NOW.
After some research, I found the same ingredient that helps with human skin itching can also help with dogs. A dog shampoo with colloidal oatmeal to help with itching was just the ticket I was looking for. Colloidal oatmeal is one of the few all natural ingredients that has been approved by the FDA for use in helping dry skin, insect bites and itching. Don't use a human shampoo - dogs skin is different from humans and human shampoo is too harsh for their skin.
And the dog shampoo with colloidal oatmeal did wonders. Did it cure him? No, his problems were more than just dry skin. But it did make him much more comfortable on our journey to figure out what was actually wrong (more on that later.)
